Thermo Boxes are very durable and lightweight, hygienic, dishwasher-proof and have best insulation attitudes from - 40 to max. + 120 °C. These boxes are especially made for a longer transport of hot, cold and fresh food to keep products hot or cold. THERMO BOXES are made of Expanded PolyPropylene (EPP), not styrofoam.

Meals on Wheels history |
Meals on wheels started in Britain during the Second World War when many people's homes were destroyed during the Blitz. Because people were no longer able to cook the Women's Volunteer Service (later the WRVS) delivered meals and the first meals on wheels service was born. The name ‘meals on wheels' was first used to describe the WVS deliveries of meals to servicemen.
Meals on wheels as we know it was an extension of this wartime service that commenced soon after the end of the Second World War. The first deliveries of meals were made by the WVS in Hemel Hempstead just north of London, England. The meals providers prepared the meals on wheels, plated it up and, in the absence of Thermo boxes or any other type of insulated food transport boxes wrapped it in whatever insulated material they had available. Whilst we now have strict hygiene rules which dictate what methods can be used to hold and insulate the food, in those days' blankets, straw bales and old clothes were used to keep food warm

Guidance on temperature control legislation in the UK |
Saturday, 11 October 2008 |
The majority of the text in the document has not changed from the guidance previously issued by the Department of Health on the 1995 Regulations. The main addition to the guidance is advice on the legislation in Scotland.
On 1 January 2006 the Food Safety (Temperature Control) Regulations 1995 were revoked. Schedule 4 of the Food Hygiene Regulations 2006 implemented by separate but similar legislation in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland remade the majority of the requirements from the 1995 regulations. However, regulation 10 (the general requirement) and 11 (cooling of foods) are now contained within EC Regulation 852/2004, Annex II, Chapter IX, part 5 and 6 respectively.
The guidance is intended to help explain for food businesses and enforcement authorities the food temperature control requirements that will operate in the UK.
The guidance contains advice on the types of foods that are required to be held under temperature control, and gives guidance on the circumstances when some flexibility from the temperature control requirements is allowed.
The guidance is intended to complement best practices in the food industry, which might involve, for example, keeping foods at chill temperatures below the legal maximum and thereby providing additional assurances of food safety.
